Every claim handled to your standard: ten claims or ten thousand.
Kernel is an independent adjusting firm for property insurers. We work overflow and high volume claims to your guidelines.
What insurers get from Kernel.
The file is read, coverage reviewed, and first contact drafted the day it lands.
Adjusting guidelines that run as rules for each policy and each jurisdiction.
Every decision is logged with rationale, the evidence weighed, and the adjuster who signed it.
Adjusters still adjust.
The Kernel Adjusting Platform works the file the way a careful adjuster would: it reads everything, weighs the evidence, and checks it against the policy wording. When a step turns on judgment, it stops and asks. A licensed adjuster makes the decision or the recommendation, and signs it.
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Patel,
Your claim for wind damage on August 14 has been assigned to me. I am sorry for the disruption and will keep you informed at each step.
To move the file forward I will need photos of the interior damage, any repair receipts to date, and a short description of how the detached garage is used. An inspection can take place on August 18, 19, or 20; please reply with what suits you.
This letter acknowledges your claim and does not confirm or deny coverage, which is determined by your insurer once the investigation is complete.
In the meantime, please do not go onto the roof or enter any room where the ceiling is sagging; wait for the inspection. If you need to tarp or board up to prevent further damage, keep the receipts, as reasonable emergency costs are normally reimbursable.

Today this covers property claims suited to desk adjusting, up to an authority limit we agree with you. Wind, hail, water, theft, and additional living expense, plus the high volume desk work that sits in queues. Kernel also stops for evidence pointing both ways, conversations that need care, and anything past that authority limit, and each stop is logged with the question and the answer.
Your examiner stops asking where the file is.
The Kernel Adjusting Platform posts every step and every decision to the file as it happens. Open the portal and your examiner sees where each file stands, what position was taken, and who signed it. No status call, no email chain.
Every file presents the same five things in the same order: where it is, the position taken, the evidence, the decisions and who made them, the next step. Ten files or ten thousand, your examiner never relearns a file.
Your QA team reads the reasoning, not just the outcome.
QA today means pulling a sample, reading each file by hand, and inferring what the adjuster was thinking from whatever made it into the notes. Leakage gets found. The reason for it often does not.
On a Kernel file, the reasoning is the record. Every position cites the wording it rests on, the evidence it weighed, and the guideline it applied. Your guidelines run as rules on every file, not from memory, so a change lands on every file from that day forward, and your QA team can watch it land.
Reviewing a file no longer means reconstructing it. The position, the wording it rests on, the evidence, and the rule applied are on the page, in the same place on every file. A sample review takes minutes, and a full review is possible.
Because every decision names the rule and wording it applied, the effect of a change is measurable. Update a guideline or add an endorsement, and you can see which claims it changed, how it changed them, and what it cost or saved, without pulling a single file.
And when a reviewer corrects a file, the correction tightens the rules for the files that follow.
Every policyholder gets the same fair treatment.
Claims handling has always required thousands of human judgment calls. Most of them are sound, but across a busy desk they drift, and two policyholders with the same loss end up with different outcomes. Industry studies call this “leakage” and measure it to be 5 to 14% of payments. Behind that number is a policyholder who got less than the policy promised, or one who got more.
Kernel was built on years of leakage audits. Those audit checks now run inside every file while it is open, so each claim is handled the way the policy intended, to one standard.
Your claims data stays in your jurisdiction.
Kernel runs on dedicated infrastructure in your region, Canada or the United States. Your files are processed there, stored there, and never used to train anything. Your security team can review the details under NDA.
Infrastructure we control, dedicated to your engagement, in your country.
Your claims are worked, not learned from. Contractually, and by design.
The questions insurers ask first
Are you a technology vendor or an adjusting firm?+
An adjusting firm. You assign files, a licensed adjuster of record carries each one, and status and reports come back the way you want them. The Kernel Adjusting Platform is how we work the file, not something you buy.
Who is licensed, and where?+
Adjusting is licensed jurisdiction by jurisdiction, and a licensed adjuster of record carries each file in the jurisdiction where the loss sits. Every decision that goes out carries that adjuster's signature. We walk through the licensing picture for your jurisdictions in the first conversation.
What does the Kernel Adjusting Platform decide on its own?+
The Kernel Adjusting Platform gathers the evidence, checks it against your wording and guidelines, and prepares the position and the drafts. A licensed adjuster reviews, decides, and signs.
Does the Kernel Adjusting Platform talk to our policyholders?+
First contact and settlement letters are drafted by the Kernel Adjusting Platform and reviewed and sent by the adjuster. Routine follow-ups, such as document reminders or scheduling, can run automatically if you allow it in setup; each one identifies itself as automated and goes out under the adjuster on the file. Conversations that need care happen person to person.
How fast does a file move?+
Work starts the day the file arrives: evidence gathered, wording checked, and the coverage position and first-contact draft in front of the adjuster the same day.
How do we see where a file is?+
Two ways, your choice. The portal shows live status on every open file, with nothing to install. Or the same information arrives as a PDF status report on the schedule you set, in your format. Most examiners use one or the other; some use both.
What happens if the adjuster disagrees with the Kernel Adjusting Platform?+
The adjuster's call stands. They can adjust the figures, change the position, or send the work back with notes, and Kernel reworks it. Each correction is logged and tightens the rules for the files that follow, so the same miss does not repeat.
Can our QA team audit the files?+
Yes, and more easily than a conventional file. Every decision is logged with the wording it rests on, the evidence it weighed, the guideline it applied, and the adjuster who signed it, in the same place on every file. A sample review takes minutes. A full review is possible.
What kinds of claims do you take?+
Property claims suited to desk adjusting, up to an authority limit we agree with you: wind, hail, water, theft, and additional living expense, plus the high volume desk work that sits in queues. Overflow and catastrophe surge are where most engagements start.
Where does our data go?+
It stays in your jurisdiction, Canada or the United States, on dedicated infrastructure we control. Your files are processed and stored there and are never used to train anything. Your security team can review the details under NDA.
What does diligence look like?+
The usual diligence includes a review of licensing details, insurance certificates, security documentation, and the methodology behind the Kernel Adjusting Platform. We can also walk through a real file, redacted, step by step.
